Preventive Care and Cleanings

Dental Exams and Cleanings

Preventive DentistryWe all know that going to the doctor for regular check ups can help prevent serious health conditions from arising, the same can be said about going to see your dentist regularly. Although good oral health starts at home with good oral hygiene habits such as brushing and flossing, these methods might not be sufficient to prevent dental problems from coming about. Regular cleanings in conjunction with exams can help prevent or mitigate the severity of many dental issues.

Deep Cleanings (Scaling & Root Planning)

When calculus and bacteria have done extensive damage to the bone and gums it may require extensive care to remove. With a deep cleaning, the hygienist will numb your gums to make it more comfortable for you during the cleaning process. A deep cleaning is more involved than a regular cleaning and the office allocates more time for the hygienist to do a careful and thorough job.

Sealants

Some teeth have deep grooves on the chewing surface of the teeth that can often trap food and bacteria which in turn can cause cavities. Sealants is a thin layer of filling material that is placed over these deep grooves without the need for a drill in order to prevent cavities from forming.
